Go racing in the latest "drifter" go karts. Unlike ordinary go karts, these cars are designed for dirt track racing and, once you get the knack, you'll have great fun sliding these amazing little cars around our twisting circuit.
Its great entertainment for groups who want to race each other but its also fun for individuals who just want to go screaming round the track against the clock or just for the fun of it.
The cars are easy to drive and can be driven by both youngsters (min. age 9yrs) and adults. No previous experience is necessary.
*** SPECIAL NOTICE ***
Our new Drifter Go Karts complex is now up and running. The first of their type in Thailand these new indoor karts are incredible fun and replace the ones you see pictured above. As much fun as the old karts were, these new "sliders" beat them hands down. This website will be updated with new photos and descriptions soon but in the meantime you can see Ian's blog to get an idea of what to expect.
The Drifter Go Karts
The go karts have extra stong frames and chubby tyres especially to handle the rigors of dirt track racing. Though strongly built they are still lightweight with a potent petrol engine that makes four wheel drifting round corners a breeze.
The simple bike-lever accelerator and brake controls are mounted on the steering wheel which means people of just about any height can drive them.
The Race Track
The specially designed dirt-track circuit is over 400 metres long and winds through an attractive tree-lined area.
The cars are made to "drift" so we've made sure there's a good number of bends with differing angles to allow drivers plenty of thrills sliding them as well as providing plenty of passing opportunities.
Safe Driving & Rewards
The cars are very stable and easy to drive so few people have problems driving them safely. However, very occasionally some drivers decide its more fun to drive recklessly and endanger themselves and anyone else on the track at the same time.
To encourage people to drive safely we award extra time for good driving which usually means no crashes. Please note that its still possible to drive fast, drift round corners and be a safe driver.
Chiang Mai Karting Experience
Before starting off, the karting supervisor will demonstrate how the karts are driven. On the steering wheel there are two levers that look like motorcycle brake levers one is the brake and the other is the accelerator. As long as you can remember which is which you're pretty much ready to hit the track.
The first thing that hits you is how peppy the little karts are so a cautious lap or two is a good idea to get used to the power and handling. A few more laps getting steadily faster and most people feel confident enough to start "hanging it out" on the corners and thats when the fun really begins.
Drive them flat out and you'll actually feel like you've had a workout afterwards as the constantly twisting track not only requires maximum concentration but also creates the same G-forces that racing drivers experience.
Racing for Groups
Tearing around the track on your own can be a lot of fun but if you are with a group you have the option of staging races or time trialling to see who can do the fastest lap. There are plenty of karts available to cater for larger groups and our staff will be happy to help organise races and timing if desired.
Fun for Youngsters and Adults
Because the controls are mounted on the wheel there are no problems reaching foot pedals that some people may experience in a normal car. That means kids can drive them just as easily as adults as long as they are nine years or over.
